My name is Barbara DiGangi and I am 21 years old from Long Island, New York.  I recently graduated from college with my bachelors degree and a double major in psychology and human services.  In the fall I will be pursuing my Masters degree in Social Work at NYU.  Since I was young, I have always carried with me a love and passion for helping others. I can remember when I was a child I organized my friends into a fund raising committee to make bookmarks to sell for my baby neighbor who was diagnosed with cancer.  Throughout my life my love for humanitarianism, charity, and human rights has only been confirmed over and over again.  I believe in encouraging others to reach their potential.  I believe in truth.  I believe in individuality and experience.  I believe in the inspiration and power of strangers.  I believe that with persistence and a passion, anything is possible.

I have attended UN Conferences, been active in the ONE campaign and Millennium Development Goals, participated in Rebuilding New Orleans, studied abroad, and have been an active volunteer in my home parish and school community.  I am currently an employee of a human services network working with families in their home and community.  As for my future, I have goals and dreams.  My interests and heart is set on working personally with those in poverty, traveling, social policy, and advocacy.  I am looking forward to attending NYU, becoming a certified social worker, making a difference, and seeing the spread of the YOU movement.
